Ike's Story

I was born and raised in San Diego, and met a handsome Oregonian in college. We joined forces in 1993, and settled in his hometown of Salem. Early in our marriage we found ourselves engaged in teenage parole-probation foster care for teenage boys. We also experienced the death of our first biological son, Isaac. Those two unique experiences led to the founding of a 501C3 that has been serving divested youth between the ages of 15-21 in Salem for the past 20 years. It is called Isaac’s Room, because we decided to give Isaac’s room both physically in our home that was left empty, and metaphorically in our heart to young people that found themselves doubting their own value. We serve them by giving them a job, a home, and a family extended.

We have fostered about 75 teenage boys, and have 2 biological sons, Zac and Andrew. Through our program IKE Quest we have served 100’s of young people over the past 15 years.
