Developing & Applying the "Community Mindset"
About the Presentation:
Too many organizational efforts to address equity, diversity, and inclusivity focus on behaviors alone. The marginalizing and discriminatory behaviors you are trying to eradicate are behavioral manifestations of a deeper issue — mindset. To create real change, we need to change the way that our organizations and community see, and that starts with us. We live in a culture of bias and blame. People don’t like having to admit they were wrong or that they are the problem. So we call people out when we need to be calling people in. At this luncheon, you will be empowered to be more self-aware and be given tools that will help you invite others to “call in” through the power of seeing people as they truly are — as people.
About the Speaker:
Kasha is a trained mediator and facilitator who runs a project for teens at Mountain West Investment Corporation. Through her program, she teaches teens in the community and school district the power of seeing people as people in their life and through conflict.
Prior to working in Oregon, Kasha worked for The Arbinger Institute, a global consulting firm where she supported clients and staff in implementing the principles into their daily work. She was first introduced to the content while at school where she earned a Bachelors in Conflict Resolution and Mediation. Kasha has been trained in conflict resolution and continues to be driven by the desire to help others resolve the conflict within their own lives. When she is not working, you can find her living out global adventures, hosting a gathering of friends, belting out show tunes, or outside enjoying the beauty of Oregon.
