April Featured Artists and Spring exhibit

During the month of April, the AiA Art Gallery will show a special feature of the work of co-op members Lorraine Dye, pastel and Susan Grace Branch, acrylic and jewelry. Award-winning artist Lorraine Dye, paints with pastels on sanded paper. Her impressionistic realism style features strong contrast and vivid colors with a range of subjects including still life, landscapes, and animals. Susan Grace Branch holds a BA in Art Education, a BA in Three-Dimensional Design, an MA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, and an MFA in Multi Media. An Oregon native, she returned to McMinnville to set up studios for her wall art and jewelry. Her work reflects her Pacific Northwest environment, and the influence of her return is deeply evident in her creative work. Susan has work in the Private Collections in Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and the USA. Each Spring Artists in Action presents a fresh artistic challenge to Salem-area artists that results in an April exhibition. The theme for our sixth annual springtime juried event is “The Colors of Spring.” For The Colors of Spring, rather than traditional "place" awards, we will recognize those artists whose artwork exemplifies the event's theme in multiple categories. At the Opening Night Reception, which coincides with Salem’s downtown First Friday Art Walk event on April 4th between 5:00-8:00 p.m., the Awards Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. The shows run through April 30th.
