He served as a state senator from 2013 to 2024\, and as the Senate Minority Leader from 2021 to 2024.\n\nHis professional experience includes being the Executive Vice President of the Central Oregon Builders Association and the Executive Director of Building Partners for Affordable Housing. He has also served on the board of First Story\, a nonprofit focused on providing affordable housing.
